TrueCite is an embeddable citation-identity gate. It does not draft, it does not advise, and it does not decide the law. It reports whether a cited identity matches a record, conflicts, or cannot be resolved — with the evidence basis, the source date and the limits attached.

What you send

Citation identifiers, and an optional document fingerprint. Submission text and judgment text are not uploaded.

What you get

Verified (official listing, publisher record, fetched public record, or official search-index record), identity conflict, or unresolved — plus the source observation, index version, rules version and request hash. Quotations, propositions and good-law status remain unchecked.

A gap in the index is reported as unresolved. It is not a finding that the case does not exist, and it is not a reason to treat the citation as verified.

Security

Identifiers are extracted in the browser, or by the partner from text it already holds.
The server receives identifiers and an optional fingerprint, not the pleading.
No language model takes part in the finding.
The same citation, index version and rules produce the same finding.
Hosted on Render in Singapore.
Scoped API keys, rate limits, replay-safe requests.
A hash binds the stored payload; it does not reproduce source evidence.

API

OpenAPI 3.1 contract (JSON)

POST /api/v2/verify accepts up to 100 citation items per request. A scoped Bearer credential identifies the partner. Every POST requires an Idempotency-Key: retrying the same request returns the stored response without duplicate usage; reusing the key for different input returns 409. Rate limits return 429 and Retry-After.

Read coverage at GET /api/v2/coverage and your usage at GET /api/v2/usage. Sandbox and production credentials have separate records. Pilot API usage is not automatically charged; a commercial rate must be agreed before billing begins.

What the three outcomes mean

VERIFIED_EXISTS: a unique identity is supported by its stated evidence basis. official_listing and publisher_record are saved records; located_public_record was read from a public record page; official_search_index is Brave-indexed metadata for a reviewed official case entry or a same-item official reference, and its source page was not fetched. The last basis uses the search retrieval time as its observation time. None checks content, current publication or good-law status. Coverage remains partial.
IDENTITY_CONFLICT: the supplied identity conflicts with the indexed record.
UNRESOLVED: evidence is insufficient, or a supplied case name differs from the record and is flagged for review. A missing record, or coverage that is declared incomplete, never establishes nonexistence.

All results identify their index, rules, source and observation where available. A match does not check quotations, propositions, current publication restrictions or good-law status.

This pilot API returns JSON findings only. Paid report issuance uses the separate signed-in browser flow. Pilot API usage is metered but is not automatically billed.

TrueCite provides scoped test credentials and a contract-test script for replay, tenant isolation and rate limits. A platform's own sandbox approval is a separate integration step; no platform partnership is implied.
