Monthly credits expire at the end of the paid period. Purchased one-off and top-up credits do not expire. Automatic top-ups are off; checks pause when there are insufficient credits. No annual plans are on sale.
Developer API
Three ways to buy production access to the citation-check API. Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST for Australian companies. UK companies pay sterling prices (see truecite.uk); other overseas businesses pay the price less GST (GST-free export).
- Pay as you go — A$0.10 per check, billed monthly in arrears, with a monthly cap.
- Monthly 4,000 — A$300 per month, including 4,000 checks.
- Monthly 30,000 — A$800 per month, including 30,000 checks.
No overage: when a plan’s checks run out, API requests stop (HTTP 429) until the next month or an upgrade. Free sandbox keys include 100 checks a month. Production keys require business verification (ABN for Australian companies), acceptance of the API agreement and a card on file. Developers & API
How check credits work
What counts as one check?
One distinct citation identity and its asserted case name. Repeated copies of the same named citation in one batch share a check; all occurrences remain traceable. The same citation number with different asserted names is checked separately.
Do unresolved results use a credit?
A supported check that completes normally can use a credit even when its result remains unresolved. An unresolved result does not mean the case does not exist. Unsupported input, unreadable files and checks not completed because of service or required-source failure do not use credits.
Will retries or reports cost extra?
No. Replaying an existing run, reopening its result or downloading its report does not use another credit. An explicitly requested new check can use new credits. A failed check releases its reserved credits.
What happens to my current allowance?
Existing free reports remain free reports, not citation credits. Existing purchases, confirmed orders, report links and historical hashes are preserved. No retrospective charges and no automatic conversion of existing partner agreements.
What does the service not check?
Coverage is partial and disclosed with the results. Quotation text, paragraph content, legal propositions and good-law status are not checked. A source-backed identity finding is not a guarantee that a submission is legally correct or court-approved.
